The pavilion was designed in close collaboration with artists Frank Stella and Bernar Venet and reflects the crossing over of Art and Architecture. Inspiration for the design of the 15 meter span pavilion stems from fluid dynamics, and in particular water vortexes. The twisting carbon fiber roof structure, with sailcloth infills, was designed and manufactured in six identical modules, with a raised central element producing negative air pressure, pushing down the entire roof structure. The six 4x2.5 meter Stella sculptures are mounted on ‘floating’ concrete walls.
